Cremaschi Barriga

Las Mesetas Merlot

A red wine from Central Valley, Chile. medium acidity. Made from Merlot (the source doesn't give the proportion).

The house says

Cremaschi Barriga is a family winery in Chile's Maule Valley, with vineyards in the Loncomilla Valley, close enough to the Pacific for cool nights all year round. The family descends from Italians who made wine in Mendoza; Pablo Cremaschi started the Chilean house in 1975, and it also goes by Cremaschi Furlotti. Las Mesetas is the entry-level line that reaches Brazil through the importer Wine, with the Valle Central appellation on the label. This is the 2025 Merlot: 13% alcohol, stainless steel only, no oak, dry, light to medium body and medium acidity, to serve at around 16 °C. The importer mentions a velvety texture and soft tannins, an easy-drinking wine, and suggests roasted or braised red meat, full-flavoured white meat, tomato sauces, cheese and spiced dishes. It came into the house through a community member's label photo. It is not in the X-Wines base, so it has no rating from drinkers yet. Had it? Toast and tell us.

No rating from drinkers yetThis label isn't in the X-Wines database, where the search ratings come from. The house added it because the community asked; the house doesn't make up ratings. The community rating, just below, is a different one: it comes from cellar members.

Are you this wine's producer?

This page comes from the public X-Wines database or from what the house read on the producer's website. Whoever makes the wine knows best: send the official tech sheet, correct what's wrong or ask for it to come down. No producer pays to get in, to move up or to leave, and the sheet you send takes precedence over any other source.

A label outside X-Wines, an open scientific dataset (de Azambuja, R. X. et al., 2023): basic details gathered and checked by the house, in the month shown under “The house says”; no rating, because ratings aren't made up. The price range only shows up once the house checks it at a big store in Brazil; this one hasn't been checked yet. Finds with the price checked on the date are in The Garimpo.
