Alta Yarí

Malbec

A red wine from Uco Valley, Argentina. Full-bodied. Made only from Malbec.

The house says

Alta Yarí is the winery that Frenchman Hervé Joyaux Fabre, the man behind Fabre Montmayou, founded with partners in Gualtallary, in Mendoza's Uco Valley: 220 hectares between 1,350 and 1,580 metres above sea level, stony soil rich in calcium carbonate and a mountain climate. The Descorchados guide named it Argentina's winery of the year in 2025. This Malbec is the entry point to the range: 100% Malbec from the 2025 vintage, 14% alcohol, hand-picked in the first week of April, cold-macerated for three days, fermented in stainless steel and briefly rested in steel, with no oak. The importer mentions ripe cherry and plum, violet and spice, good body and soft tannins, and suggests barbecue, grilled sausage and pasta with red sauce, at 16 °C. It is not in the X-Wines base, so it has no rating from drinkers yet. Had it? Toast and tell us.

Basic details checked by the house in Oct 2026; acidity will be added once the house checks the label.

No rating from drinkers yetThis label isn't in the X-Wines database, where the search ratings come from. The house added it because the community asked; the house doesn't make up ratings. The community rating, just below, is a different one: it comes from cellar members.
Had it already? Give it a Cheers and tell us on Open Bottle: that's how it gets a voice.

Are you this wine's producer?

This page comes from the public X-Wines database or from what the house read on the producer's website. Whoever makes the wine knows best: send the official tech sheet, correct what's wrong or ask for it to come down. No producer pays to get in, to move up or to leave, and the sheet you send takes precedence over any other source.

Goes well with

Red meat, barbecue and pasta.

A suggestion, not a rule: if you liked it another way, you're right.

A label outside X-Wines, an open scientific dataset (de Azambuja, R. X. et al., 2023): basic details gathered and checked by the house, in the month shown under “The house says”; no rating, because ratings aren't made up. The price range is the one the house saw at big stores in Brazil, in the month shown: the price changes, the range tends to stay. Shipping isn't included. The house doesn't sell wine.
