Quinta Vale do Armo

Vila Jardim Tinto

A red wine from Tejo, Portugal. A blend of Trincadeira and Touriga Nacional.

The house says

Quinta Vale do Armo sits in Sardoal, in Portugal's Tejo region, some 100 km north-east of Lisbon, with around 90 hectares of vines and 18 grape varieties, and today belongs to the Lindeborg group. Vila Jardim is the estate's brand, named after Sardoal's nickname, Portugal's garden town, with its flower-filled streets and houses. This is the entry-level red of the range: Trincadeira and Touriga Nacional in the 2022 vintage, 13.5%, fermented in temperature-controlled vats and kept in stainless steel only, with no oak. The producer mentions a pomegranate colour, fresh red fruit on the nose and a soft palate, and suggests red meat and strong cheeses. The blend changes from vintage to vintage: the 2023 sold in the UK carries Aragonez, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional. It is not in the X-Wines base, so it has no rating from drinkers yet. Had it? Toast and tell us.

Basic details checked by the house in Oct 2026; acidity will be added once the house checks the label.

No rating from drinkers yetThis label isn't in the X-Wines database, where the search ratings come from. The house added it because the community asked; the house doesn't make up ratings. The community rating, just below, is a different one: it comes from cellar members.

Are you this wine's producer?

This page comes from the public X-Wines database or from what the house read on the producer's website. Whoever makes the wine knows best: send the official tech sheet, correct what's wrong or ask for it to come down. No producer pays to get in, to move up or to leave, and the sheet you send takes precedence over any other source.

Goes well with

Red meat and aged cheese.

A suggestion, not a rule: if you liked it another way, you're right.

A label outside X-Wines, an open scientific dataset (de Azambuja, R. X. et al., 2023): basic details gathered and checked by the house, in the month shown under “The house says”; no rating, because ratings aren't made up. The price range only shows up once the house checks it at a big store in Brazil; this one hasn't been checked yet. Finds with the price checked on the date are in The Garimpo.
