Casa Geraldo

Syrah do Gato Reserva

A red wine from Minas Gerais, Brazil. Made only from Syrah/Shiraz.

The house says

Casa Geraldo dates from 1969 and sits in Andradas, in southern Minas Gerais, at the foot of the Serra da Mantiqueira: one of the wineries that put Minas on the fine-wine map. This Syrah comes from a vineyard at 920 metres, on red, stony soil, and only a fifth of it spends a year in French oak: ripe red fruit leads, the oak stays in the background, and it's smooth on the palate. 14% alcohol. It calls for meat, lamb or an aged Minas cheese. It isn't in the X-Wines database, so it has no rating from people who drank it yet. Had it? Raise a glass and tell us.

Basic details checked by the house in Sep 2026; acidity will be added once the house checks the label.

No rating from drinkers yetThis label isn't in the X-Wines database, where the search ratings come from. The house added it because the community asked; the house doesn't make up ratings. The community rating, just below, is a different one: it comes from cellar members.
Had it already? Give it a Cheers and tell us on Open Bottle: that's how it gets a voice.

Are you this wine's producer?

This page comes from the public X-Wines database or from what the house read on the producer's website. Whoever makes the wine knows best: send the official tech sheet, correct what's wrong or ask for it to come down. No producer pays to get in, to move up or to leave, and the sheet you send takes precedence over any other source.

Goes well with

Red meat, lamb and game.

A suggestion, not a rule: if you liked it another way, you're right.

A label outside X-Wines, an open scientific dataset (de Azambuja, R. X. et al., 2023): basic details gathered and checked by the house, in the month shown under “The house says”; no rating, because ratings aren't made up. The price range is the one the house saw at big stores in Brazil, in the month shown: the price changes, the range tends to stay. Shipping isn't included. The house doesn't sell wine.
